Hello, we hope that everyone had a lovely winter break! We are excited to pick up the pace and start seriously doing research to benefit our project this year. We can officially announce that our project will be titled "From Slavery to Shelter: Stories from Baltimore's Aged Men and Women's Home of the Methodist Episcopal Church 1870-1910" . Please read to attachment below which includes a rough outline of our spring schedule through early March. Activities are subject to change. We will see everyone at our next meeting on January 22 A and B lunch! We have off of school next week due to MLK Day.

Our goal of today's meeting was to catalog as many bones and as much glass as possible. President Angela Arnold was able to complete an entire box of bones over the past week, and other student members have been working hard to finish all of our glassware. We are hoping to mend these artifacts, and eventually put them into an exhibit with Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum. A head's up, check your calendar for the night of Thursday, April 19. At 7PM, JPPM will be holding an archaeology convention for the community. HHS Archaeology has been asked to speak about our work this year, more info to come in the next few months. We have settled on a date for our Holiday party, December 18 during A and B lunch. It will be potluck style, so please bring what you signed up for! Check back next Monday for another update! On Friday, November 17, Huntingtown High School's Anthropology class and Archaeology club traveled to Bird-In-Hand, PA to experience a day in the life of an Amish man or woman. We had 22 students join us on this incredible day that was led by Mr. Cunningham. Our first stop in Lancaster was to a dairy farm, where students met with an Amish dairy farmer who gave students a tour of his farm. Students were able to shop at a traditional Amish Quilt Shop on the property, and meet with adorable calves! The group then traveled to another dairy farm to meet with an Amish Family and to learn more about their daily life. Students had the ability to ask questions during the session, and visit inside an Amish home. Traveling back to the center of town by bus, we met with a former Amish school teacher, who brought us inside of a replica Amish schoolhouse. Everyone gathered inside of this tiny room, and we learned about Amish school subjects including how the students, grades K-8 interact with one another. We finished the day with a home-cooked Amish meal, made up of fried chicken, green beans, buttered noodles, bread with apple butter, chocolate cake, and Shoo-Fly pie. What a wonderful day, and a once in a lifetime experience for our students! Regarding our 11/27 meeting, we discussed our upcoming holiday party on Monday 12/11/17! We invite all to join us in I-210 as we share a meal, and discuss the plans for the remainder of the school year! We hope to see you soon. Archaeology Club members decide how to catalog artifacts with Dr. Patrica Samford of JPPM while enjoying their lunch. They are working with painted ceramics. Everything is looking good for a Monday! In the below photo, students work with Mr. Cunningham to catalog ceramics with intricate detail and design. Thanks for the help everyone, and start thinking of what you want to bring to our holiday party in early December. Date is TBA. Members of Archaeology Club are also looking forward to visiting Bird-And-Hand Lancaster, PA on the 17th of November. It's going to be a fantastic learning experience, and we are excited about the home cooked Amish meal! Remember to check back next Monday for a new update. Mr. Cunningham has a staff meeting today during both lunches, and Tricia and Rachelle are unavailable. Please bring in your $10 for the Salsarita's food day on Monday 10/30 by this Friday 10/27. It's going to be an amazing lunch! We will see you all next Monday!
